Thomas Nevels of Landgoed Scholtenzathe tells about his experience with the Holaras oniontopper
We farm around 1,000 hectares at the Scholtenzathe Estate. 20% of our crop is onions, the other 80% consists of potatoes, sugar beets, carrots, and some maize and grains.
The onions are first trimmed with Holaras onion toppers before they can be sold. To top the onions as neatly as possibly, these machines have 3 blades per lane, each blade removing a small extra piece from the tail of the onions. We placed 2 belts next to each other to increase capacity.
We chose the Holaras machine because it complements our system. It’s compact, it fits into our line well, and we can achieve a higher capacity with 2 belts.
After the onions have been trimmed, they are packed in 9 kg bags and then shipped all over the world. We process 12,000 tons of onions per year with these machines, without any problems.
