Beet cleaner

Beet cleaner

Palatability and better absorption

The beet cleaner is suitable for cleaning beets and other crops. The open design of the bucket in combination with the large surface of the slatted belt ensures a high cleaning capacity. The cleaner is supplied as standard with an adapter plate and belt with slats mounted at 50 mm intervals. Other interval sizes for cleaning other crops (e.g. potatoes) are available on request.

Why clean beets?

More and more dairy farmers are feeding beets fresh, or ensiling them with maize. Fodder beets are a high-yielding crop. They are also palatable, promote good rumen fermentation, and improve the fat content of milk.

Cleaning fodder beets makes them more palatable and easier for cows to absorb.

The beets can be cleaned to a greater or lesser degree, depending on whether they are fed fresh or ensiled with maize. If they are fed fresh, defoliating and light cleaning is sufficient to prevent damage. Beets that are ensiled must be cleaned better, and, if necessary, cut. Irrespective of whether they are fed fresh or ensiled, ground tare on beets must be avoided as much as possible, because it has a negative impact on the energy value of the beets.

How do you clean them?

The Holaras BR 2000 beet cleaner is perfect for getting fodder beets really clean. The bucket contains a hydraulically-driven bar belt. The coarseness of the bar belt can be adjusted according to the amount of dirt. Beets grown on clay soil, for example, require intense cleaning before they can be used as feed. By choosing a different slatted belt, the cleaner can also be used for other crops, such as potatoes or chicory roots.

After scooping the beets, the bucket can tilt slightly and the beets will roll inside it. The cleaning surface is 2 m2.
